2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost– Video Test Drive and Review with Chris Moran

2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost– Video Test Drive and Review The 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost is the latest model to come from this storied manufacturer, and it’s positioned as the brand’s entry-level vehicle. At a quarter-million dollars worth of starting price, that’s quite a misnomer. But considering its Phantom sibling will set you back 0000 and its namesake forebears — the 1906-’26 Silver Ghosts — are typically valued in the millions, perhaps the new Ghost is a relative bargain. The 2010 Ghost is all but guaranteed to embody class-leading performance and comfort. True, it is based on a BMW 760Li (BMW owns Rolls-Royce), but Rolls says the Ghost only shares about 20 percent of its construction with the big BMW. Rolls-Royce is also quick to point out that everything you see and touch is all-new and exclusive to the brand. As with all Rolls-Royce vehicles, the new Ghost surrounds occupants in top-notch luxury and unmistakable style. Attention to detail and craftsmanship border on the obsessive. Back in the old days, Rolls-Royce didn’t quote engine output but rather stated that it was “sufficient.” Under the Ghost’s long hood lies a larger version of BMW’s new twin-turbo V12. This potent yet silky-smooth power plant produces a “sufficient” 563 horsepower and 575 pound-feet of torque. Equally impressive is the fact that all of that torque is available at only 1500 rpm, which makes this substantial automobile feel light on its tires. An eight-speed automatic transmission — also

Rolls-Royce Phantom–Video Test Drive with Chris Moran

January 7th, 2012

My favorite video so far…a stunning 2009 Rolls-Royce Phantom. Enjoy. For decades prior to the current-generation Phantom, Rolls-Royces were often perceived as being nothing more than beautiful old-school luxury barges with all the technological innovation and dynamic excitement of the Queen Mary. So to say there was some skepticism surrounding the introduction of the Rolls-Royce Phantom would be like saying reality TV occasionally resorts to fabrication when ratings are at stake. When parent company BMW first announced in the late 1990s that it would be delivering a completely new Rolls-Royce to paying customers on January 1, 2003, most analysts wrote it off as the kind of posturing that typically accompanies a corporate takeover. After all, BMW didn’t even own the Rolls-Royce brand yet. It would be four-and-a-half years before the German automaker acquired the rights to sell the storied brand, but the target was indeed met, and the first all-new Rolls-Royce in nearly 40 years left the all-new Rolls-Royce plant at Goodwood in West Sussex, England. Unlike so many of its predecessors, this beautifully crafted and elegant ultraluxury sedan lives up to the lofty expectations of a vehicle adorned with the hood-mounted Spirit of Ecstasy. While a case could be made for one of its few rivals, no other automobile boasts the unique style, grandiose dimensions and sterling reputation of the Rolls-Royce Phantom. Current Rolls-Royce Phantom Despite the ties to BMW, the Phantom is

2011 Jaguar XJ L–AutoMedia

August 27th, 2011

The incredible new Jaguar XJ, in long-wheelbase L model form. A new standard in supreme luxury. Presented by Chris Moran from AutoMedia. Above all things, Jaguar desires to be different. That’s why the new 2011 XJ flagship has the flamboyant lines of an Italian torpedo and the driving manners of a German autobahn cruiser and is tuned for Buckingham Palace fleet duty. Cultures collide in spectacular ways in this luxury limo. The XJ is a cab-rearward design and is incredibly riveting to stare at as it sits back on its haunches with as much cool as James Bond lighting a Chesterfield. In black, with the big-dish 20-inch wheels, the car is sinister enough to warrant its own RICO investigation. Jaguar Cars managing director Mike O’Driscoll, who’s peddled more than his share of schlock over a 35-year career with the company, is smiling more lately. He says the mission was to recapture the uniqueness of the original 1968 XJ but in a modern form. They looked at the class stalwarts—the Mercedes-Benz S-class, the BMW 7-series, and the Audi A8—and the more driver-oriented oddballs, including the Maserati Quattroporte and Porsche Panamera, and decided to shoot for a middle ground. Passion—but with typical British reserve. If you focus on those front three-quarter shots, you’ll wrongly dismiss the 2011 XJ as just an XF with a pituitary run amok. Skip down to the side and rear profiles to capture the XJ’s more exotic stance. The beltline is pulled way up, the side glass is pinched
